Fortum has retired its last coal unit used for district heating in Espoo, Kirkkonummi, and Kauniainen, completing the phase-out on April 28, 2024, over a year ahead of schedule. This move is part of the Espoo Clean Heat program, aiming for carbon-neutral district heating by 2030. To support this initiative, Fortum, together with Sakea, concepted and produced an informative video series about the significant transition.
